Step-by-step instructions
1. Cast on
- 1Cast on 80 stitches using 12mm needles. The stitches will feel big and loose — that is exactly right for a chunky throw.
2. Knit every row
- 1Knit every stitch of every row (garter stitch).
- 2Join a new ball at the start of a row whenever one runs out.
- 3Continue until the blanket measures about 120cm, or you have just enough yarn left to cast off.
3. Cast off
- 1Cast off loosely so the edge stays as stretchy as the rest of the blanket.
- 2Weave in all the ends securely with the large wool needle.
Top tip: Want it bigger? Every extra 10cm of length uses roughly one more 100g ball, so buy an extra ball or two if you want a generous throw.
