Step-by-step instructions
1. Cast on
- 1Cast on 99 stitches (an odd number) with 4mm needles.
2. Work seed stitch
- 1Every row: *k1, p1* to last stitch, k1.
- 2This creates a reversible nubby texture. Continue until the piece measures 90cm (enough for front plus a back flap).
3. Assemble
- 1Fold the piece into an envelope shape around the cushion pad.
- 2Sew the side seams. Add three evenly spaced buttons on the overlap flap. Weave in ends.
Top tip: Seed stitch does not curl at the edges like stocking stitch, so it is perfect for cushion covers that lie flat.
