Step-by-step instructions

1. Cast on

  1. 1Cast on 132 stitches using 4mm needles. This will give you a cowl about 60cm around.

2. Work the rib

  1. 1Row 1: *k2, p2* to end.
  2. 2Repeat row 1 for every row until the piece measures 25cm, or your desired height.

3. Cast off and seam

  1. 1Cast off in rib (knit the knits and purl the purls as you cast off, so the edge stays stretchy).
  2. 2Sew the cast-on edge to the cast-off edge to form a loop. Weave in ends.

Top tip: Casting off in rib keeps the top edge as stretchy as the rest — if you cast off normally it may feel tight around the neck.
