Step-by-step instructions
1. Cast on and rib
- 1Cast on 62 stitches with 6.5mm needles.
- 2Work in k1, p1 rib for 6cm.
2. Stocking stitch body
- 1Continue in stocking stitch until the hat measures 18cm from the cast-on edge.
3. Shape and finish
- 1Row 1: *k6, k2tog* to last 6 sts, k6. Continue decreasing every RS row until 8 stitches remain.
- 2Thread yarn through remaining stitches, pull tight. Sew side seam.
- 3Make a large pom-pom and sew it firmly to the top.
Top tip: Wind the pom-pom really thick and trim it into a perfect sphere — a generous pom-pom makes the hat.
