Hot Water Bottle Cover
A snuggly knitted cover for your hot water bottle — the ultimate winter comfort. Ribbed for a stretchy fit.

Fits a standard 2-litre hot water bottle
What you'll need
- 1 x 100g ball of Aran yarn
- A pair of 5mm (UK 6 / US 8) knitting needles
- A wool/darning needle
- 2 buttons (optional)
Tension: 18 stitches and 24 rows to 10cm in stocking stitch on 5mm needles.

Step-by-step instructions
1. Knit the front and back (make 2)
- 1Cast on 36 stitches with 5mm needles.
- 2Work in k2, p2 rib for 36cm (or until it matches the length of your bottle minus the neck).
2. Shape the top
- 1Decrease: *k2, k2tog* to end on next RS row. Continue decreasing every other row until 9 stitches remain.
- 2Cast off.
3. Assemble
- 1Sew the two pieces together around sides and bottom, leaving the top open.
- 2Add a button-and-loop fastening at the top if you like, or leave it open for easy filling. Weave in all ends.
Top tip: Pop the cover in the wash regularly — choose a machine-washable Aran yarn for easy care.
