Step-by-step instructions
1. Crown
- 1Chain 3, join with sl st.
- 2Round 1: ch2, 10htr into ring, join. (10)
- 3Round 2: ch2, 2htr in each st. (20)
- 4Round 3: ch2, *1htr, 2htr in next st* around. (30)
- 5Continue increasing by 10 stitches per round until you have 60-70 stitches (adjust for your head).
2. Body
- 1Stop increasing and work htr in each st around for about 18cm. The hat will naturally form a slouchy shape.
3. Brim and finish
- 1Work 4 rounds of dc for a snug, ribbed-look brim (or switch to BLO dc for stretchy ribbing).
- 2Fasten off. Weave in all ends.
Top tip: The more rounds you work without increasing, the slouchier the hat becomes — try it on as you go to find your perfect droop.
