A light, lacy scarf worked in the easy V-stitch. A lovely introduction to crochet stitch patterns beyond the basics.

What you'll need
- 2 x 100g balls of DK yarn
- A 4.5mm (UK 7 / US 7) crochet hook
- A wool/darning needle

Step-by-step instructions
1. Foundation chain
- 1Chain 39 (or any multiple of 3).
2. V-stitch pattern
- 1Row 1: work a V-st (1tr, ch1, 1tr) in the 5th ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, V-st in next ch*, repeat to end. Ch3, turn.
- 2Row 2: V-st in each ch1 space of the row below. Ch3, turn.
- 3Repeat row 2 until the scarf measures 150cm.
3. Finish
- 1Fasten off. Weave in all ends. Add a tassel or fringe to each end if you like.
Top tip: The V-stitch creates a lovely drape — do not be tempted to work too tightly or the scarf will feel stiff.
