What you'll need

  • 1 x 50g ball of DK cotton yarn
  • A 4mm (UK 8 / US G-6) crochet hook
  • A wool/darning needle

Step-by-step instructions

1. Foundation

  1. 1Chain 36.

2. Bobble texture rows

  1. 1Row 1: dc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch1, turn. (35 sts)
  2. 2Row 2: *dc in next 2 sts, 3tr bobble in next st* to last 2, dc in last 2. Ch1, turn.
  3. 3Row 3: dc in each st across. Ch1, turn.
  4. 4Repeat rows 2-3 until the cloth is square (about 22cm).

3. Finish

  1. 1Work a round of dc evenly around all four sides, with 3dc in each corner. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Top tip: Make a stack of these in cheerful colours as a housewarming gift — wrap them around a bottle of washing-up liquid!
