Rico Ricorumi DK 100% Cotton

Hard-wearing, machine-washable cotton that gets softer with every wash.

What you'll need

  • 2 x 50g balls of DK cotton yarn
  • A pair of 4mm (UK 8 / US G-6) knitting needles
  • A wool/darning needle

Tension: 20 stitches and 36 rows to 10cm in garter stitch on 4mm needles (cotton is firmer than wool).

Step-by-step instructions

1. Garter stitch cloth

  1. 1Cast on 44 stitches. Knit every row until square (about 22cm). Cast off.

2. Seed stitch cloth

  1. 1Cast on 45 stitches (odd number). Row 1: *k1, p1* to last stitch, k1. Repeat this row until square. Cast off.

3. Basketweave cloth

  1. 1Cast on 44 stitches. Rows 1-4: *k4, p4* to end. Rows 5-8: *p4, k4* to end. Repeat until square. Cast off.
  2. 2Weave in all ends on each cloth.

Top tip: Cotton dishcloths are eco-friendly and last for ages — a brilliant alternative to disposable wipes.
