Cotton Dishcloth Trio
Three simple dishcloths in three different stitch patterns — garter, seed and basketweave. Great for practising new textures.

What you'll need
- 2 x 50g balls of DK cotton yarn
- A pair of 4mm (UK 8 / US G-6) knitting needles
- A wool/darning needle
Tension: 20 stitches and 36 rows to 10cm in garter stitch on 4mm needles (cotton is firmer than wool).

Step-by-step instructions
1. Garter stitch cloth
- 1Cast on 44 stitches. Knit every row until square (about 22cm). Cast off.
2. Seed stitch cloth
- 1Cast on 45 stitches (odd number). Row 1: *k1, p1* to last stitch, k1. Repeat this row until square. Cast off.
3. Basketweave cloth
- 1Cast on 44 stitches. Rows 1-4: *k4, p4* to end. Rows 5-8: *p4, k4* to end. Repeat until square. Cast off.
- 2Weave in all ends on each cloth.
Top tip: Cotton dishcloths are eco-friendly and last for ages — a brilliant alternative to disposable wipes.
