Step-by-step instructions
1. Knit two rectangles
- 1Cast on 56 stitches with 6.5mm needles.
- 2Work in stocking stitch with a 4-stitch garter stitch border on each side until the piece measures 70cm. Cast off.
- 3Make a second identical rectangle.
2. Assemble
- 1Lay both rectangles flat. Sew one short edge of rectangle A to one long edge of rectangle B, about 25cm along, leaving the rest open for the neck.
- 2Repeat on the other side so the poncho forms a draped shape when you put your head through the opening.
3. Finish
- 1Add a fringe along the bottom edges if you like. Weave in all ends.
Top tip: Try this in a self-striping chunky for effortless colour changes.
